At Himawari International Preschool, we believe children thrive in a nurturing and friendly environment where they can simply be kids. Our mission is to ensure every child has fun, feels safe, and grows in confidence. We provide a warm, supportive start to their educational journey, laying a strong foundation for future learning.
Our early years curriculum, taught by certified teachers, is carefully designed to be age-appropriate, featuring regular assessments and reporting tools to track each child’s progress. We help children develop at their own pace, make independent choices, and build a strong sense of competence, emotional attachment, and self-worth. Our curriculum smoothly transitions children from play-based learning to more structured teaching, preparing them for a successful start in primary school.
Himawari International Preschool proudly offers the Cambridge Early Years Curriculum, developed by Cambridge International and Cambridge University Press, part of the prestigious University of Cambridge. Designed for children aged 3 to 5, this curriculum sets the stage for an exciting educational journey, equipping young learners with the knowledge, understanding, and skills they need for the best possible start in life.
The Cambridge Early Years Curriculum is the result of collaboration between early years and subject-matter experts, incorporating best practices from early years education worldwide. It reflects these practices while embracing local, regional, and national contexts, supporting cognitive, communication, social, and emotional development.
Cambridge Early Years offers a holistic approach, focusing on the whole child and connecting their development with the world and people around them. The curriculum covers six interconnected learning areas, encouraging the development of knowledge, understanding, and skills through a spiral approach. This method revisits topics and skills at deeper levels across the stages, providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
At Himawari, young learners benefit from a rich array of co-curricular and extracurricular activities that nurture individual character, develop social skills, and build self-esteem and self-reliance. Our programs foster resilience, respect for others, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
In addition to classroom learning, children enjoy outdoor education, Show and Tell, Dramatic Play & Young Performers, Cambridge Qualifications, and various seasonal events and camps. Himawari International Preschool offers a comprehensive education that goes beyond academics, preparing children to thrive in all aspects of life.
This 3-year programme is designed to introduce and expand on Jolly Phonics for children aged 3 to 5, providing them with a strong foundation in English.
All phases of Jolly Phonics are introduced, covering basic sounds, digraphs, and blending. Children also start learning simple vocabulary and basic writing skills.
The focus is on reinforcing and expanding the phonics knowledge acquired in Year 1. Children develop more advanced reading and writing skills, including sentence formation.
The programme prepares children for the Cambridge Pre A1 Starters exam, equivalent to Eiken Level 4. Phonics knowledge is consolidated, and children practice reading fluency, writing, and exam-specific tasks to ensure they are well-prepared.
By the end of the programme, children will have a solid foundation in English, ready to transition smoothly into primary school with the confidence to sit the Cambridge Pre A1 Starters exam.
